Wethepeople - from the
underground to the power!
By the end of the 1990 it
became a bit quiet around BMX.
The big hype was gone and the
bright neon uniforms of the
industry were unbearabe for
the human eye. Lars, Stephan
and Stefan wanted to start
something new with Wethepeople
and do their own thing: from
riders for riders was their
motto. They started off with
simple shirts that were sold
at underground jams and
contests.
In the middle of the 1990s
it becam a little bit quiet
around Wethepeople. Stefan,
responsible for graphics at
Wethepeople, put most of his
energy in his graphic design
agency. Lars pursued a career
in Dj-ing but still moderates
up to now BMX contests. So
only Stephan Prantl was left,
who opened a BMX shop in
Cologne. So it was time to
revive
Wethepeople!
In addition to the shirts the
first 14 mm hub was produced.
This sounds pretty
unbelieveable when you
consider that this is now the
standard in Street!
Around 1999 Klaus Dyba and
Harald Schmid joined
Wethepeople
and the product range grew
continously.
In 2003 Stephan Prantl left
Wethepeople in order to
concentrate all his energy on
the organization of BMX
events. You are probably
familiar with the BMX Masters
;-) Meanwhile Klaus and Harry
are busy working for
Wethepeople and also expand
their involvements in the
scene. In addition to a BMX
shop in Cologne and a
distribution they also start
the brands Salt and
Eclat.
From the parts and their
designs,
Wethepeople
sets standards for the
industry and offers affordable
complete bikes. No matter if
you are a beginner or a true
mosher we can only strongly
recommend Wethepeople
products!
