Hayes

The Hayes story begins in Milwaukee in 1946 with outboard motor parts. In 1956 the company designed its first brake caliper for go-karts and later supplied disc brakes for agricultural machines, snowmobiles and, from 1985, exclusively for Harley-Davidson. In 1972 Hayes developed the first disc brake for Schwinn, and in 1997 the HFX-Mag brought the hydraulic disc brake to the mountain bike and set the standard for many brakes on the market today. Today Hayes Performance Systems is based in Mequon, Wisconsin, and also owns Manitou, Reynolds, SUNringlé and ProTaper. The current range is built around the Dominion family with the A2, A4, T2 and T4 brakes, the D-Series rotors and matching parts.
