Axles FAQ

What do I need to consider for a replacement axle?

The axle is the backbone of your hub. Since every manufacturer uses their own bearing spacing and cone designs, axles are **not universal**. You must choose an axle specifically made for your hub (Manufacturer & Model).

What types of axles are there?

Male Axle (Solid)
The classic threaded rod (usually 14mm rear, 10mm front) secured with nuts.
Female Axle (Hollow)
A hollow axle with internal threads. Secured with bolts from the outside. Lighter and often stronger as no threads damage the dropout.

When should I replace my axle?

  • When the thread is damaged (stripped).
  • When the axle is bent (wheel wobbles, bearings run rough).
  • When it is broken (immediate replacement required).

What do the specifications mean?

Feature Explanation
Diameter 14mm (Rear Standard), 10mm (Front Standard)
Material CrMo (Standard), Titanium (High End/Lightweight), Alloy (Race mostly)
Compatibility Model dependent! (e.g., "Fits Odyssey Antigram only")
