MTB Rim Strips
The cheapest insurance against flats: The rim strip protects the tube from the sharp edges of the spoke holes. Since Dirt Jumping involves high air pressure (4 Bar+ / 60 PSI), we only stock pressure-resistant vinyl strips and high-pressure tapes that do not push into the holes.

MTB Rim Strips FAQ
What is a rim strip and what should I look for?
It sits in the rim bed and covers the spoke nipples. If it's too thin or too soft, the high tire pressure pushes the tube into the spoke holes causing it to burst. That's why we avoid simple rubber bands and rely on stable materials.
What width do I need?
The strip should cover the entire rim floor but not ride up the sidewalls (otherwise the tire won't seat properly).
- Rule of thumb: Measure inner rim width and subtract approx. 1-2mm or choose exactly matching. For most Dirt rims, 22mm to 28mm is ideal.
Snap-on or Glued?
- Vinyl Strip (Snap-on)
- A continuous ring made of stable, stiff vinyl. Easy to snap onto the rim and reusable. The standard for tube setups as it is extremely durable.
- High-Pressure Tape (Glued)
- A self-adhesive roll, often known as tubeless tape. It is very thin, does not slip, and withstands extreme pressures. Can be used with both tubes and tubeless setups.
