Why upgrade Stem Bolts?
Standard stems often come with heavy, solid steel bolts that can rust over time. Aftermarket Stem Bolts offer three advantages:
- Weight Tuning: Switching to hollow or titanium bolts can save 20-50g at a high point of the bike.
- Style: Available in Oil Slick, Gold, or anodized colors to match your build.
- Reliability: High-quality bolts have deeper Allen heads (Innensechskant), making them less likely to strip.
Materials: Steel vs. Titanium
- CrMo Steel (Hollow)
- Heat-treated steel with a hollow core. significantly lighter than solid bolts but just as strong. The price-performance winner.

- The High-End choice. Titanium is approx. 40% lighter than steel and completely corrosion-resistant (no rust). Perfect for Pro builds.
How do I find the right size?
Most BMX stems use the standard Metric M8 x 1.25 thread with a length of 20-25mm.
Exception: Some very light Mini/Junior stems or Flatland stems use thinner M6 bolts. Measure your thread diameter before ordering!
Installation Tip: Avoid Seizing!
Grease is mandatory! Especially with Titanium bolts in Aluminum stems, you must use copper paste or assembly grease. Without grease, the metals can "cold weld" together (seize), and you will never get the bolt out again.
Torque: Do not overtighten! Use a torque wrench according to the stem manufacturer's specs.
