BMX Race Brake Spare Parts FAQ

What parts optimize my braking?

Even the best brake caliper feels terrible with a bad cable. Small parts make a huge difference in modulation and lever feel.

Essential Spare Parts

Linear Slic Cables
Unlike standard spiral-wound cables, linear cables have straight strands. This prevents the cable from compressing (spongy feel) and allows for barspins without locking the brake. Essential for a crisp pressure point.
Brake Rotors (Scheiben)
The friction surface for disc brakes. In BMX Race, we use small sizes (120mm, 140mm) to save weight.
Check: Does your hub use 6-Bolt or Centerlock?
V-Brake Noodles
The curved metal pipe at the caliper. A flexible noodle allows for better cable routing on small frames.

Cable Maintenance

If your brake lever is hard to pull or doesn't snap back:

  1. Check for kinks in the cable housing.
  2. Drip thin oil (e.g., Tri-Flow) into the housing.
  3. Check if the inner wire is frayed. If yes, replace it immediately to prevent snapping.
