Essential Spare Parts Explained
- Pedal Washers (Unterlegscheiben)
- Crucial for Alloy Cranks! These thin steel washers sit between the pedal axle and the crank arm. They prevent the hard steel pedal axle from digging into the softer aluminum crank, which causes creaking and eventually failure.
- Spindle Bolts (Achsschrauben)
- The side bolts that pull the crank arm onto the spindle. Check them regularly as they can loosen from vibration.
- Pinch Bolts (Klemmschrauben)
- Found on Shimano/DXR style cranks. They clamp the arm onto the spindle. Always tighten them evenly!
Maintenance Checklist
