The sound has to be right! But not only that: Dirt Jump hubs must withstand extreme stress. We carry singlespeed hubs with drivers (small cog), robust bolt-on axles, and high engagement for instant acceleration. Up front, we rely on 15mm and 20mm thru-axles without flanges for grinds.

What distinguishes a DJ hub from a normal MTB hub?
Normal MTB hubs have a long freehub body for 10-12 cogs. Dirt Jump hubs are usually singlespeed specific:
- Shorter Freehub / Driver: Saves space and allows for wider hub flanges. The result: A stiffer wheel because the spokes are at a better angle (dishless wheel).
- Solid Axle / Bolts: Instead of quick releases, massive bolts are used (Bolt-In), tightened with an Allen key. This keeps the wheel securely in the frame even on messy landings.
Why is the sound (engagement) important?
The loud "buzz" isn't just cool, it indicates many engagement points (pawls) inside. The more points, the shorter the dead travel when pedaling. This is crucial if you need a half crank rotation ("half-cab") between two jumps.
Can I mount a disc brake?
Yes, almost all our hubs have the standard IS 6-bolt mount for brake rotors. If you ride "brakeless", simply leave the mount empty.
