Shoes FAQ
Why do I need specific BMX shoes?
Running shoes or sneakers are too soft and the sole gets destroyed by pedal pins instantly. BMX shoes have:
- Special Rubber Compounds: For maximum grip on metal or plastic pins.
- Reinforced Uppers: To survive friction against the crank arm or asphalt.
- Impact Cushioning: Insoles that absorb the shock of landings (e.g., Vans PopCush).
Vulcanized vs. Cupsole – What is better?
- Vulcanized (Vulc): Thinner and more flexible.
Pros: Incredible pedal feel (you feel exactly where your foot is).
Cons: Less protection against heel bruises. - Cupsole: A solid rubber cup sewn to the shoe.
Pros: More stable, durable, and better cushioning for big gaps.
Cons: Slightly less pedal feel initially.
Can I use these shoes for MTB/Dirt?
Yes! Flat pedal MTB riders love BMX shoes (especially Vans) for their style and grip.
