Vans shoes exist since 1966, when Paul Van Doren and three partners opened heir first Vans shoe store on March 16th in Anaheim, California. Back then, Vans were still handmade and directly sold to the people. With the emergence of skateboarding in the early 1970s, Vans Shoes were becoming more popular. With the first signature skate shoe ever in 1975, Vans also became the first skate shoe company ever.

The mid-90ies mark the start of Vans BMX. At that time Vans supported the BMX scene not only with a separate BMX team, but also with a contest series, the legendary Vans Triple Crown.
