Connex is the bicycle brand of Wippermann jr. from Hagen, the only German chain manufacturer. Its wide 1/8 inch chains with a spring clip are built for BMX and track bikes.

Who or what is Connex?
Wippermann jr. was founded in Hagen in 1893 by Wilhelm Wippermann, after the chain on his son's bike kept breaking. The workshop grew into a roller chain manufacturer that still produces in Hagen today, making it the only German bicycle chain maker.
In the 1990s the company introduced the Connex brand for its bicycle chains. For BMX the wide 1/2 x 1/8 inch chains are the relevant ones: 112 links, a spring clip in the box and, depending on the model, plain, nickel-plated, reinforced or with a zinc flake anti-rust coating.
