Protective Vests
A protective vest covers back, chest and flanks while leaving the arms free. It is the compromise for anyone who finds a full protective jacket too warm and a single back protector too little.

Protective Vests FAQ
Vest or jacket?
A vest leaves elbows and forearms free, so you combine it with separate elbow guards or ride without. That is cooler and less restrictive, but does not protect the arms. A jacket takes that decision off your hands.
With an integrated neck brace
Some vests have a neck brace built in. The advantage is that the two are guaranteed to match; the drawback is that you cannot leave the brace off. Whether a vest has one is listed with the item.
