Who or what is Stronglight?
The roots go back to 1906, when Achille Haubtmann set up a workshop for cranks and pedals near Saint-Étienne. The Stronglight name itself was born later at Vérot-Perrin: the aluminium crankset "model 49", proven in competition in 1931, made the brand famous, and Jean Aerts became world champion on it in 1935. The two companies were merged decades later.
Stronglight is based in Saint-Étienne today and is one of the larger European makers of chainrings, cranksets, headsets and bottom brackets. The BMX Race chainrings use four bolts, a 104 mm bolt circle and 7075-T6 aluminium.
