Pegs Spare Parts FAQ

What are Peg Spare Parts and what is their main purpose?

Modern street pegs often consist of a core (aluminum or steel) and a replaceable plastic shell, called the sleeve. This category is the place to go when the sleeve is worn out but the core is still intact. This saves money and reduces waste.

The Anatomy of a Plastic Peg

Core
The structural inner part made of metal that is screwed onto the axle.
Sleeve
The wear part made of nylon/fiberglass that slides over the core. It slides better than steel and is quieter.
Adapter
A ring that reduces the peg inner diameter from 14mm to 10mm (for front wheel axles).

Which Sleeve fits my Peg?

Sleeves are not universal!
  • An Odyssey sleeve only fits Odyssey pegs (often only a specific model like "Joystick" or "Graduate").
  • A Fiend sleeve only fits Fiend pegs.
  • Check Length: Sleeves come in different lengths (4", 4.5", 4.75"). A sleeve that is too short exposes the core; one that is too long will wobble.

How do I change a Sleeve?

  1. Unscrew the peg from the bike.
  2. Often you can simply pull the old sleeve off. If it is deformed ("mushroomed") from grinding, you may need to cut off the excess plastic or tap the peg core on the ground to loosen the sleeve.
  3. Slide the new sleeve on. Some systems have anti-rotation mechanisms (small pins or edges) that must snap into place.
  4. Remount the peg.
