The BOX Components "Hex Lab Carbon" BMX Race Rim 24 x 1.75" 36H is the 24 inch version of the BOX Components Hex Lab carbon rims. It is built from ultra high modulus carbon fiber, stiffer than other carbon fibers. BOX calls the design Oversized Technology: the load paths from the bars, fork and cranks were followed down into the rim, so it steers precisely up front and puts the power down out back. Sculpted reinforcements at every spoke hole bridge the angle between the sloping flanks and the spoke plane and give the rim the stiffness of a broader profile without most of its extra material.
This rim has no brake track and is made for disc brakes, front or rear, not for V-brakes. It is tubeless ready (bead lock) and runs just as well with a tube. For tubeless you also need a tubeless valve, rim tape and sealant.

Carbon rim notice
On carbon rims, single layers of the laminate can crack, usually from hard landings or overloading. Such damage from use is not a defect: it is covered neither by the statutory warranty nor by any manufacturer's warranty. A rim with cracked layers should be checked before it is ridden again.
Our recommendation: carbon rims are best suited to experienced, professional use. Front wheel rather than rear, and park, dirt or race rather than street. Land clean and you keep the weight advantage for longer. Worth being aware of.
