The Halo "Butch" Axle Washers are toothed washers that stop a wheel from slipping in the dropout. The 4 mm thick body of hardened CrMo steel resists bending, and the sharp cut teeth bite into the dropout. As the grip face is 3 mm wide against the 4.5 mm nut face, Halo says the clamping force rises by 30 %, while the smooth nut face reduces friction when tightening. The 10.2 mm hole fits 10mm and 3/8" axles.
