The Avian "Venatic Carbon" BMX Race Rim - 20 Inch (406) - 28H - V-Brake is the rear version of Avian's Venatic carbon rim, here in 20 x 1.50" (406) with 28 holes. It is made of high modulus unidirectional carbon, which keeps the rim stiff and the rotating weight low: according to US Pro it weighs 264g. The tall profile is 23mm wide and 38mm high, with a matte black finish. Unlike the front version without a brake surface, this rim has braking sidewalls, so it also fits a rear wheel with a V-brake. You must use special brake pads for carbon rims. The valve hole is drilled for Presta valves, the recommended maximum tire pressure is 7.58 bar (110 psi).

Carbon rim notice
On carbon rims, single layers of the laminate can crack, usually from hard landings or overloading. Such damage from use is not a defect: it is covered neither by the statutory warranty nor by any manufacturer's warranty. A rim with cracked layers should be checked before it is ridden again.
Our recommendation: carbon rims are best suited to experienced, professional use. Front wheel rather than rear, and park, dirt or race rather than street. Land clean and you keep the weight advantage for longer. Worth being aware of.
