Loctite "648" Retaining Compound - 5ml does not go into a thread, it goes between a bearing and its seat. When a bottom bracket or a headset cup starts to move in the frame because the fit has worn, this retaining compound fills the gap and turns a loose seat back into a solid joint. It cures without air between the closely fitting metal surfaces and then transmits far higher loads than the fit alone. The bond is high strength, so it is not for parts that get swapped regularly.
