Sapim "Polyax Alu Secure Lock" Spoke Nipple

The Sapim "Polyax Alu Secure Lock" Spoke Nipple is the classic spoke nipple with a round head: the head works like a ball joint between rim and nipple and lines spoke and nipple up cleanly instead of kinking the spoke at the rim hole. Sapim makes it from 7075-T6 aluminium alloy, anodised in many colours, and gives thread and surface a coating that noticeably reduces friction between spoke and nipple and between rim and nipple. That makes lacing easier and quieter and truing finer. An aluminium nipple weighs around 0.3 g (manufacturer: 22 g per 64 pieces), about a third of a brass nipple. Secure Lock is Sapim's patented nipple lock: a precisely defined deformation in the thread keeps the nipple from unwinding, Sapim quotes a locking resistance of 12 cNm. No glue, no plastic insert, the nipple trues like any other. Sapim is a Belgian manufacturer that has built nothing but spokes and nipples since 1918; the Polyax has been around since 1995. Notes: 1. The right quantity: this nipple is sold individually, so please choose the quantity in your cart. A BMX wheel usually has 36 holes, an MTB wheel usually 32, and newer MTB wheels often 28 at the front and 32 at the rear. A few spare nipples are always a good idea. 2. The right length: which length suits your rim depends on the rim bed, eyelets and spoke length. If in doubt, ask us and we will work it out with you. 3. Matching parts: the nipple fits every spoke with a 2.0 mm thread (14G), i.e. Sapim Leader, Race, Strong, Sprint, D-Light, Laser, CX-Ray and CX-Sprint. For spokes with a 1.8 mm thread (15G, Sapim Super Spoke and CX-Super) there is the Polyax Alu 15G.
