The Wolf Tooth MTB Thru Axle - Rear 12mm X-12 is the rear thru axle for frames with the Syntace X-12 system, as used by Specialized, Cannondale, Intense, 3T, Canyon and others. It replaces a lost or damaged stock axle and differs from the other Wolf Tooth axles by the conical stainless steel washer under the head that the X-12 dropout requires. The captive washer reduces friction on the dropout face: more of the tightening torque becomes clamping load, the frame stays undamaged and the axle does not gall when you remove it. Machined from 7075-T6 aluminium, 5 mm hex, 12 Nm max; the 159 fits 12x142, the 165 fits 12x148 Boost. Axle length is independent of hub dimensions, Wolf Tooth provides a printable measuring guide; the length may differ by 2 mm. Apply a little grease to washer and threads when installing.
