20 years of kunstform (2003): how it all began?!

Around the turn of the millennium Stuttgart had a pull that is hard to explain today. It was the plaza at the Haus der Geschichte, one of the best flatland spots in the country, and riders like Stephan "Ass" Dietrich and Philip Jakober. Anybody serious about flatland ended up here sooner or later. Sebastian Pospischil, Florian Sailer, Moritz Edschmid, Philip Früh and Roman Rommel moved to Stuttgart, later Daniel Fuhrmann, John Krämer and Oliver Radunz as well. There was the contest series "Battle in the Club", there were jams, and there were parties people still talk about.

In the middle of his studies, in 2003, Sebastian Pospischil founded kunstform out of his BMX flatshare at Hackstraße 80. It started with importing smaller brands nobody else in Germany carried: Artzone, Jim Bob, FlatTV. The warehouse was whatever still fitted above the bedroom door, the office was the desk by the window, and the phone line was his own mobile.

The first site went online at www.kunstform.org. It was small, a handful of files, but it had a team page from the very beginning, because that was the point: the first team riders were Chris Böhm, Daniel Hennig and Sven Steinbach.
