The Ikon "UD Carbon" BMX Race Rim - 20 Inch (406) - 32H - Disc is Ikon's 32 hole carbon rim for 20 x 1.50" to 1.75" Pro wheels. It is made of unidirectional Toray T700 carbon, which Ikon says is stronger than common 3K weaves, and weighs 305g; according to Ikon a comparable aluminum rim weighs about 390g. The aero profile is 32mm wide and 25mm high, the nipple holes are angled. The profile has no brake surface, so the rim is not meant for V-brakes: it works at the front, and at the rear with a disc brake. Thanks to its bead lock profile the rim is tubeless ready; for that you also need tubeless rim tape, a valve, sealant and a tubeless tire. It is tested by the Chase race team. Ikon recommends at most 7.58 bar (110 psi) and a spoke tension up to 115 kgf.

Carbon rim notice
On carbon rims, single layers of the laminate can crack, usually from hard landings or overloading. Such damage from use is not a defect: it is covered neither by the statutory warranty nor by any manufacturer's warranty. A rim with cracked layers should be checked before it is ridden again.
Our recommendation: carbon rims are best suited to experienced, professional use. Front wheel rather than rear, and park, dirt or race rather than street. Land clean and you keep the weight advantage for longer. Worth being aware of.
